Cyber Defence East Africa 2014 report
2014-12-01

In September, Cyber Defence East Africa 2014 - annual NRD East Africa and ISACA Tanzania Chapter conference, dedicated to "Fighting against Financial and Data Privacy Crime" was held in Arusha, Tanzania.

In order to consolidate the knowledge transferred by the speakers and make it available for a wider audience, a conference report has been prepared. The report draws upon some of the ideas brought up by the speakers to identify the biggest current cyber-security challenges in the East African region and internationally as well as suggestions for the way forward in 2015.

We were privileged to have a Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Hon. Pereira Silima as the guest of honour to grace and launch the event. A number of issues where discussed in line with the current status of the national cyber security challenges/ gaps and ways forward. The discussions were driven by a number of experts from Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA), Banking Sector, The Law Reform Commission of Tanzania, Tanzania Police Cyber Crime Unit and a number of international experts, co-authors of ICT and cybersecurity related research publications from Europe and East Africa. Speakers shared their extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of forensic investigations, cyber defence, incident response, IT governance and compliance, among others.

You can download the report here.
